Scholarships

We are delighted to announce that St John’s D.S.G. is now offering Scholarships for girls entering our Senior School at a Grade 8 level.

These scholarships recognise girls who show dedication to their studies, strength of character and wholehearted involvement in school life.

Closed Scholarships

Closed Scholarships are available to girls who currently attend one of the following Primary Schools:

  • Clifton Preparatory School
  • Cowan House
  • Laddsworth Primary School
  • Umhlali Preparatory School
  • St John’s D.S.G. Junior School

To be eligible for these Closed Scholarships, the applicant must currently be enrolled at one of the above schools.

Open Scholarships

These scholarships are open to all applicants, including:

  • Girls from any school, applicants do not need to attend a specific Primary School to apply.
  • Parents may also apply for the Open Scholarship, even if their daughter attends one of the above mentioned (Closed Scholarship Schools).

Scholarship Criteria

In awarding scholarships, the Admissions Committee will consider:

Academic Performance

  • An average of 75% or more per subject (based on the Grade 6 November report).

Conduct

  • A consistent record of good behaviour.

Character

  • Integrity, courage and kindness.
  • Alignment with the values of St John’s D.S.G.

Merit & Performance

  • Strong involvement in sport, culture or other co-curricular areas.

Values

  • Family values that align with the School’s Biblical foundation.

Important Information

Please note:

  • The Principal of the applicant's current school will be consulted prior to awarding a scholarship.
  • St John’s D.S.G. reserves the right not to award any scholarship.
  • Parents may apply for both a scholarship and Financial Assistance; however, the award of either is not guaranteed.
  • In some cases, financial documentation may be requested.
  • In order to apply for a scholarship, parents must have submitted a formal online Application to the School and paid the application fee of R800.
  • Scholarships cover a percentage of tuition and/or boarding fees. (Extras such as tours, uniforms, stationery, textbooks, laptops and similar items are excluded.)

Closing date for submission of Scholarship Forms for Grade 8, 2027 is
Tuesday, 24 March 2026.
