St John’s Day took place on Sunday, 7 May. The day started with a beautiful Chapel Service, lead by Rev. Diane Pickford, our School Chaplain, and we were delighted that a record number of Old Girls attended. Our Senior School Choir also “blew everyone away” during the service. If you would like to see their performance of Hail Holy Queen from “Sister Act”, please click here.
After the chapel service, many of our St John’s girls and their families joined us at the Picnic Prom concerts, which took place on the Top Hockey Field. Our Junior Primary Choir, Senior Primary Choir, Senior School Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Grade 6 and 7 Marimba Bands, Grade 10 Band, Senior School Band and Senior Marimba Bands entertained us with beautiful music. The St Charles College Rock Band also joined us and performed very well. The afternoon culminated with special guests performances by the KZN Youth Wind and Jazz Bands, and the Caledonian Band.
During the Picnic Prom concerts, our Grade 8s hosted a Market Day. We were amazed by their creativity and attention to detail. From dreamcatchers and succulent jars, to “emoji” cushions and tie-dyed socks, they had handcrafted some beautiful handcrafted items. Others sold delicious food, including popcorn, candyfloss, brownies, cupcakes, biltong and potato spirals.
Well done to all of our Grade 8s and musicians who took part in the St John’s Festival. Special thanks goes to Mrs Simone Zartmann, the Music Department, the Parents’ Association, Rev. Di Pickford, Mrs Heather Evans and everyone else involved in the St John’s Festival. It was a huge success.
