Forget about Paris, Milan and New York – the “fashion buzz” was centred around Pietermaritzburg on Friday, 3 February! The Junior School girls all participated in the St John’s D.S.G. “Trashion Show” to help raise awareness about the importance of recycling within our community. All Junior School girls were asked to use their creativity and skills to design and wear their own outfit, made from recycled items.
The Grade 4s were in charge of assembly this morning and produced – with the help of the talented Mrs Usher – a very thought-provoking production, based on a typical family learning more about the importance of recycling and, as a result, how they adjust their lifestyle to accommodate it.
After the production, the girls relished the opportunity to strut their stuff on the Theatre ‘runway’ showing off their latest creations! Mrs Sally Perks, Grade 4 teacher says, “We wanted to get the message out to both parents and children about the value of recycling to help reduce our ever-increasing landfills and help look after the beautiful creation that God has provided for us.”
