Our KZN Junior Swimming Champs

Four of our girls – Jessica Meter, Khanyisa Mtshali, Emily Martens and Emma Kuhn – took part in the KZN Junior Champs Gala during the holidays, and all of them did very well.

Emma, in Grade 8, entered 9 events (including heats and finals) over the three days and won 9 Gold medals, broke 5 records (200m IM, 100m fly, 100m back, 50 breast and 100m breast) and won the Age Group Winner trophy for the most points scored in the 13 year age group.

Khanyisa and Emily, both in Grade 6, were also awarded medals. Khanyisa won Bronze in the 50m Breaststroke, and Emily won Gold in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke, Silver in the 50m & 100m Backstroke and Bronze in 50m Freestyle. Emily also came 4th in the 200m IM for her age group, where the top 5 girls all broke the meet record for that event.

Jessica, in Grade 7, was awarded Silver for the 200m Inidividual Medley, 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle, where she was just split seconds behind Emma Kuhn. She was also awarded a Gold for the 200m Freestyle and the Mixed Relay. Well done, girls. We are very proud of you!
