There was a blur of bashers in the pet aisle of Pick n Pay, Hayfields this morning when our Grade 5s went shopping with the money that they made at their recent Market Day.
The girls practised working on a budget by calculating how many blankets, bags of pet food, treats and toys they could afford to purchase. At the tills, the friendly Pick n Pay staff patiently counted all the small change they were given as payment for the chosen items.
Then the Grade 5s headed to SPCA Pietermaritzburg to deliver all the items that they had purchased and spend time with the animals. The girls were unanimous in their conclusion that their hard-earned money went to a very, VERY worthy cause! Thank you to the SPCA for all the amazing work you do in our community, and well done to the Grade 5s for showing “big heart” today! ?
P.S. A friendly notice to our Grade 5 parents: we have taken a poll and discovered that precisely 84% of your daughters are planning to ask you this evening for a new pet from the SPCA!
