Sadly, many children in our country do not own a pair of shoes. Today, as a part of “Spirit Week”, which is led by our Matrics, the girls of St John’s D.S.G. spent the day barefoot – and not for the fun of it, but to experience the discomforting reality of what it feels like to not have any shoes.
One of our Grade R girls says, “My feet were so cold this morning – too cold to walk, so I ran to Mrs Parfitt’s office! It must be very sore and cold and uncomfortable for children who do not have any shoes.” May we always be aware of how blessed we are, and grateful for both the big and the small things in our lives. After all, a “small” blessing that we may take for granted could be the big thing that someone else is praying for
